World Record Breaker Trio

The World Record Breaker Trio includes the last three hottest chillies in the world according to the Guinness Book of Records.  If you like your chillies really hot, then this chilli plant trio has some serious chache!  All of these chillies have recorded Scoville Heat ratings of over a million.  This trio follows the story of the battle to be crowned the hottest.

Bhut Jolokia toppled the Red Savina from its prime position in 2007, nearly doubling its 577,000SHU with a record breaking 1,041,427SHU!

In early 2011, after a brief appearance by the Infinity Chilli as top of the hots, the Naga Viper toppled its fellow British rival.  A Naga cross developed by Gerald Fowler in the tropical heights of the Lake District, the Viper measured a record breaking 1,382,118SHU.  That's a pretty hot chilli for the north of England!

Over the course of the last few years, a number of superhot Caribbean chillies have shot to capsicum fame for their intense heat.  The Morouga, Seven Pot and the deadly Trinidad Scorpion.  Butch Taylor, the owner of a Hot Sauce company was selectively breeding Trinidad Scorpions to get the hottest possible.  Within a few months the current Guinness Record Holder, the Butch T Strain of the Trinidad Scorpion had stolen the crown with an insane 1,463,700 Scoville Heat Units.

Rare Western Fire Trio

The Rare Western Fire Chilli Plants Trio includes some of the rarer chillies of Caribbean origin.  These are some of the lesser known superhots, but all measure around the million scoville mark.  If you like your chillies hot and fruity, this trio will not disappoint.

Butch T variant Trinidad Scorpion currently holds the Guinness Book of Records title for world's hottest chilli.  The record breaker was actually grown outside of the Caribbean, in Australia so why not chance your luck and see how hot you can get them.  Golden Jonah hails from Trinidad, a giant variant of the Seven Pot with an fruitier flavour.  The Golden variant has a definite flavour of pineapple which gives any dish a strong tropical flavour, along with its immense heat.  The Naglah is only a Western Fire chilli inpart; a cross between the chocolate Douglah, rarest of the Seven Pots, and  a Naga.  It has been included for its intense fruity flavour and heat levels of 1.2 million Scocille Heat Units.

Rare Eastern Fire Trio

The Rare Eastern Fire Chilli Plants Trio includes some of the rarer versions of the Eastern Superhots.  They are variants of Bhuts and Nagas that have been tested at over a million Scoville Heat Units.  These chilli plants are aimed at the connoisseur of superhots who is looking for something a little different.

The Black Naga is actually a gorgeous chocolate variant of the Naga Morich, just as hot as its parent chilli but growing to immense size, dwarfing the Chocolate Bhut.  The Golden Bhut Jolokia is a strain of the Assam record breaker, a gorgeous golden colour with searing heat and a fruit flavour.  King Naga or Naga Mirch produces the largest pods of the Naga Jolokia family, long and wide.  They are a little milder than the classic Naga but will still blow you away at 800-900,000SHU.  It is a very productive plant.

- Pimento de Padron is a favourite Spanish Tapas chilli with the unique habit of concentrating all the plant's capsaicin in just a few pods. That means that most of the chillies are extremely mild but around 1 in 5 is quite explosive; the Russian Roulette of chillies makes a great dinner party novelty.
- Bishop's Crown is one of the stangest-shaped chillies, resembling a bishop's hat with 3 distinct sides. It comes from Barbados and is pretty hot with a fruity flavour.
- Peter Pepper has been voted the World's Most Pornograhic Pepper by Organic Gardening Catalogue for the phallic shape of its pods. I'm not quite sure what it was up against but it makes a great novelty plant for your garden as well as producing hot little pods!

The Hot Ornamental Chilli Plant Collection includes three chilli plants that produce pods that are as at home in the garden as they are in the kitchen. They all do exceedingly well in pots on a sunny patio. The Royal Black is a real talking point with its almost black leaves and pods. Numex Twilight was bred especially for pots and does especially well outdoors, with multi-coloured pods. Etna has large explosions of hot red chillies, volcanic in appearance and heat.

World of Chillies has put together similar chilli plants into some classic and rare trios and we hope that there is something to suit everyone.  However, if none of the above ten trios are quite what you are looking for, you can pick your own trio of chilli plants.  We are sorry that our plants from our limited edition trios - World Record Breakers, Rare Eastern Fire and Rare Western Fire are not available in the Pick Your Own Trio.
