This specially commissioned 11-watt LED grow light bulb has been designed for chilli seedlings, plugs and small plants, where extra light makes the biggest difference.

The bulb uses a balanced mix of blue and red LEDs to support strong, leafy growth during the early vegetative stages. The light can look a little strange to us, but plants reflect green light and absorb blue and red wavelengths far more efficiently. Blue light is particularly important early on, helping seedlings grow compact and sturdy rather than leggy.

Chillies are semi-tropical plants and respond well to longer daylight hours, especially in late winter and early spring. Adding supplementary light at this stage can make a noticeable difference to plant strength and overall performance later in the season.

At 11 watts, a single bulb provides enough light for around 18 plugs or 12 small plants, depending on spacing and height. Running costs are modest: used for 16 hours a day, the bulb costs approximately £1.50 per month at current electricity rates. It can be used with a timer to maintain a consistent day length.

While the bulb provides valuable supplementary light, plants should still be grown in a bright position where natural daylight is available. Think of it as an assist rather than a replacement for the sun.

The bulb is available in E27 (screw) and B22 (bayonet) fittings, making it suitable for clip lamps and standard anglepoise-style lights. We also have adapters available from E27 to B22 and from E14 t0 B22. Just leave a note at checkout
