This is an introduction to Chilli Chooser, an information rich database featuring just some of the chillies I have grown over the past few years.

Many of these chillies are also available as seeds, plugs or plants. An example of an entry can be seen here.

example - jalapeño

Even though it's a long time since the Jalapeno figured in the hottest 10 chillies in the world, it still packs a punch if you eat enough of them. The Jalapeno is the chilli of choice for chilli eating contests in the USA and its unique flavour is ubiquitous with Mexican cooking.

The Jalapeno is a very high yielding plant producing a profusion of short, blunt, conical fruits. The chillies are often picked and used green, but will ripen through to red.

Variety; Annuums are by far the biggest group of chillies, ranging from incredibly mild to medium hot in a huge range of flavours and shapes.

Origin: Mexico

Medium Mild; 2,001 - 10,000 Scoville Heat Units

Easy grow scale: 2. Enthusiastic Grower; growing these chillies is easy to achieve as long as you have a sunny windowsill or greenhouse. If you take a little care of your plants and have some basic gardening experience, you should be successful.
