Ed Currie, the visionary behind both Pepper X and the Carolina Reaper, carefully cultivated this fiery contender on his South Carolina farm over an impressive decade.
Pepper X, shrouded in proprietary mystique, guards its pods and seeds zealously, ensuring they won't be available for public acquisition. This intentional secrecy underscores Currie's commitment to preserving his intellectual property.
Laboratory tests conducted at Winthrop University in South Carolina verified Pepper X's searing heat, averaging an astonishing 2,693,000 Scoville Heat Units (SHU). Capsaicin, the fiery compound responsible for the burning sensation in peppers, takes centre stage in Pepper X's intense flavour profile. Currie, one of the select few who has dared to consume a whole Pepper X, endured hours of searing heat and cramps—a testament to the pepper's potency.
