New Chilli Varieties for 202712 new varieties for 2027 – grown to order and available for pre-order until 31 December.

There are five main groups of chilli species. The superhot chillies are members of the more slow-growing, tropical Chinense species. Annums (and many of the others) are faster growing and more leggy.

Every year I like to try a few new chillies. Sometimes it's because I've heard good things about a variety, sometimes it's an unusual flavour or a spectacular-looking plant, and occasionally it's just because I can't resist the name.

This year's collection has been particularly interesting. I've been exploring Korean chillies, indulging my growing enthusiasm for yellow superhots, and trying some wonderfully odd varieties that look as though they belong on another planet. There are a few old favourites returning too, including Habahot and Fatalii Jigsaw.

Not everything went quite to plan. Some plants needed more attention than expected, others grew completely out of control, and a few turned out to be much hotter — or milder — than I'd anticipated. But there have been some lovely surprises, particularly when it comes to flavour and productivity.

These are the 12 varieties I've chosen to add to our collection for 2027, with a few more still to come. We're doing something a little different this year and growing these particular chillies to order. It means we can offer a much wider selection without having to keep every variety growing throughout the season.

So these new varieties are available exclusively through pre-order until the end of December. Choose the ones that catch your eye and we'll grow them for you, ready for dispatch from February.
